Effects of quick lime on cadmium absorption capacity of different varieties of rice

To explore the impact of quick lime on cadmium enrichment capability of rice， and to screen practical agronomic measures which could reduce the accumulation of cadmium， six rice varieties were selected in a field trial in central China. The results showed that， in addition to Xiangzaoxian 45， the yield of other varieties had no significant decrease after application of quick lime. Application of quick lime could significantly reduce the cadmium content in rice. Zhongjiazao 17 had the lowest content of cadmium， and Lingliangyou 674 had the highest content of cadmium， the difference was significant. The pH increased in the soil with quick lime， by 8.90%， but the content of cadmium did not change significantly. The content of cadmium had no significant difference in the six rice varieties.
