Establishment of duplex PCR assay for identification of pseudorabies virus

Based on the gB and gE genes of pseudorabies virus（PRV） ， two pairs of special primers were designed， duplex PCR for distinguishing the wild strain and vaccine strain of PRV was established. By this duplex PCR assay， two specific fragments of 122 bp（gE）and 246 bp（gB）were simultaneously amplified from field isolate DNA， only a 246 bp（gB）fragment was amplified from vaccine strain DNA. The results indicated that the method was specific， sensitive， and could be used for rapid diagnosis and epidemiological investigation of PRV infection.
