Characteristics of plant type of rice varieties with different productivity level

With 50 early-maturing late Japonica rice varieties adopted in the region of Yangtze River as materials， the characteristics of plant type of rice varieties with different productivity level were studied. The results showed that， plant height，width of basal internodes，ear length，grain density and panicle weight of rice significantly increased with the productivity level increasing. Compared with middle- and low-level yield cultivars，top- and high-level yield cultivars had superior blade shapes，the leaf basic angle and leaf drop angle of the top three leaves were smaller，the leaf were straight，the leaf inserted height were appropriated，and they had higher population LAI，valid LAI and highefficiency LAI，especially，the high-efficiency LAI was higher than 5.
