Effects of different feeding rates on growth ofTilapia mossambica and water quality

    • This study was designed to evaluate the effects of different feeding rates(2.0%,4.0%,6.0%,8.0% offish body weight)on growth of Tilapia mossambica and water quality. The results showed that weight gain ratio(WGR)and length gain ratio(LGR)of T. mossambica in the small aquacultural environment increased at first and then decreasedwith the feeding rate increasing, while feed efficiency(FE)showed decreasing trend. Water quality was assessed byfuzzy comprehensive assessment(FCA). The status of water quality was deteriorating with the feeding rate increasing. The results suggested that the optimal feeding rate of T. mossambica(body weight of 50 g)was 4.0%,which could bothpromote the rapid growth of fishes and maintain water quality well.
