Development situation and countermeasures of Guangdong peanut industry in 2014

In 2013，global peanut yield increased by 11.73%，which was more than last year. Peanut plantingarea in our country slightly reduced，but peanut production continued to increase in six years. In Guangdong，peanutplanting area and yield slightly increased，and the highest yield appeared in north and west area，accounting for75.75% of the province. Peanut prices continued to fall sharply，labor and land costs rose faster，peanut acreage profitfell sharply，with decline of 66.78%. Four new varieties of peanut got Guangdong expert validation and announcementin 2014. The contribution rate of technological progress of peanut industry was only 41.50%，while the labor costsignificantly affected peanut industry. Therefore，to keep peanut price stability and promote the peanut industryto a new level，some measures were put forward，such as control of peanut planting area，decrease of productioncost，promotion of new varieties with high efficiency，development of peanut deep processing，expanding peanutconsumption，increasing the peanut export，construction of temporary storage system，etc.
