Impacts of technical barriers from developed countries on Chinese tea export

    • In order to find out the effect of technical barriers to trade on Chinese tea export, we use modified gravity model to conduct the empirical research with the data of Chinese tea export to Britain, France, Germany, Japan and United States from 1995 to 2012. The results showed that technical barriers to trade from developed countries or developed economies had significantly negative impact on Chinese tea export, which has some regional differences; while Chinese own set of standards, such as quality security standards and test standards, didn't constitute a technical barriers to trade. Chinese tea consumption market was declining with the level of developed economies growing, technical barriers to trade of developed economies presented increasing trend, so Chinese tea export transfered to developing countries and regions.
