Screening and characterization of several extracellular enzymes producing fungi from Shenzhen coast

    • In the present study, the abilities of 31 marine fungi for extracellular enzymes production were investigated, including cellulase, lipase and laccase. These isolates, including 22 filamentous fungi and 9 yeasts, were isolated previously from Shenzhen coastal areas and identified by using rDNA sequencing of ITS gene. Most of the strains were found to show considerable extracellular enzymatic activities when assayed qualitatively on substrate plates after 5 d growth. The result showed that none of the yeasts showed laccase activity. Additionally, the quantitative assay of 4 fungal isolates, PKU F16, PKU F18, PKU Y5 and PKU Y8 demonstrated increase of enzymatic activity initially followed by a decrease on the 6th day. And the highest activities of cellulase enzyme for F18 and Y8 were 1.13, 1.31 U/min mL, respectively; Y8 produced lipase up to 21.94 U/minmL. F18 and F16 produced 14.61, 10.50 U/min mL of laccase respectively.
