Effects of different culture media on the growth of test-tube seedlings of Cymbidium aloifolium

    • In order to understand the effects of culture media on the growth of test-tube seedlings of Cymbidium aloifolium, seven kinds of media treatment were designed to research the survival rates, root activity, and morphological indexes. The results showed that the test-tube seedlings survived best on the substrate combination of perlite:peat moss:bark at a rate of 1:2:3, survival rate was up to 99.2% stably, and the new roots grew well. The substrate combination of rubble:peanut hulls:perlite:charcoalratio at a rate of 3:3:1:1 was best for the morphological index of growth, significantly enhanced the terms of vegetable growth, and was better than the media of peat moss or sphagna singly. The coordination of combined substrates was better than the single ones, and was widely available, cheap and pollution-free.
