Abstract
The black borer Apate monachus Fabricius was listed as a quarantine pest of entrance-exit of China. It mainly caused damage to the forest, fruit trees, and wood. The distribution, morphology, host range and economic value,biology and ecology, spread, management, and potential threaten to China for this pest were reviewed and analysed. The risk level of the beetle was high for China. The paper would become the basis of the identificatiion, quarantine, and nmanagement for that beetle in China.
