Bioinformatics and expression pattern analysis of Histone deacetylase HD2 subfamily in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

    • Histone acetylation plays a key role in regulating chromatin organization and gene expression. In this study, we successfully identified and cloned three tomato HD2 genes, SlHDT1101, SlHDT1102 and SlHDT1103. All the three tomato HD2 proteins had a characteristic domain structurea conserved pentapeptide motif (MEFWG) on the N-terminal and two highly charged acidic stretches in the central part. In addition, both SlHDT1101 and SlHDT1103 contained a C2H2 type zinc finger in the C terminal. Furthermore, all the three HD2 proteins were localized in the nuclear. The gene expression analysis showed that each of the three HD2 genes displayed a specific expression pattern in tomato fruit development, indicating their important functions during fruit development.
