Research advance in bacterial wilt resistance of eggplant

Bacterial wilt caused by Pesudomonas solanacearum is becoming one of the main diseases, which is difficult to control with the available means in eggplant. This paper summarized the recent research advance in bacterial wilt of eggplant, covering the resistance evaluation to bacterial wilt, the resistance of genetic analysis, the molecular marker of bacterial wilt resistance gene, cross breeding and hybridization in eggplant, the use of tissue culture, genetic engineering, crafting and biological control in disease resistance breeding. Then the problems at present were discussed and several suggestions were proposed for further research in this area.
