    Identification of resistance to Phytophthora nicotianae in some pineapple materials by in vitro leaf method

    • Phytophthora heart rot is one of the most serious diseases in pineapple, is a kind of soil borne disease caused by Phytophthora nicotianae and hard to control. To obtain some materials resistant to P. nicotianae in the pineapple production and breeding, the resistance of 117 pineapple materials to P. nicotianae was identified by in vitro leaf method. The results showed that the resistance to P. nicotianae of different pineapple materials varied widely. There were 38 kinds of highly resistant, 24 kinds of resistant resource, 17 kinds of middle resistant and 38 kinds of susceptible resource, which occupied 32.48%, 20.51%, 14.53% and 32.48%, respectively. All these results showed that there were plenty of antidisease sources in recent pineapple resources, and they could be applied in pineapple breeding for resistance to phytophthora heart rot.
