Effect of ultra-fine powder of Senecio scandens on diarrhea and serum IgG, IgA, IgM in piglet

In order to evaluate the preventive and curative effect of ultra-fine powder of Senecio scandens (UFSS) on diarrhea and the influence of UFSS on serum IgG, IgA and IgM in piglet, 90 piglets(D伊L伊Y) with the age of 40 days were divided into 6 groups with 3 repetitions, each repetition had 5 piglets. Group 1 was control (no additive were added). Piglets in group 2, group 3, group 4 and group 5 were fed with diets supplemented with 0.3%, 0.6%, 0.9%, 1.2% of UFSS, respectively, and piglets of group 6 were added 1.2% of ordinary powder of S.scandens in diet. The test lasted 30 d. The results showed that the diets added with certain quantities of UFSS could decrease diarrhea frequency and diarrhea index of piglets and the optimum dosage of UFSS was 1.2%, and the levels of IgG, IgA, IgM raised significantly, and the control effect of UFSS on diarrhea was better than that of ordinary powder of S. scandens in diet.
