Application of banana plants in the construction of urban agriculture in Dongguan

Banana is sweet, rich in nutrition, and often known as one of 野four top fruits of south China冶with pineapple, longan and litchi, also is the traditional crop of Dongguan water area. Under the new situation of vigorous development of urban agriculture in Dongguan and facing the severe blow by banana wilt disease, this article analyzed the application of banana plants. Firstly, we should develop the various planting pattern with the high quality and disease resistance banana cultivars including banana (Musa AAA group), Fenjiao (Musa AAB group), Gongjiao (Musa AA group), Dajiao (Musa AAB group), along with the unique cooking banana as the representative of the edible banana. Secondly, we must introduce and cultivate excellent leaf, flower and fruit ornamental banana cultivars to develop ornamental value. Thirdly, we can empolder banana wine, banana resistant starch and banana snack food to develop the deep processing of banana.
