Comparison on modified total RNA isolating methods from tomato glandular trichomes

Glandular trichomes of tomato are closely related to the plant defense response and synthesis of secondary metabolites. In order to further study on the special expressing gene in plant trichomes, total RNA of glandular trichomes from tomato was extracted with 3 methods, including improved GTC method, CTAB method and Trizol method. The results showed that the high quality RNA was obtained with improved GTC method. Agarose gel electrophoresis showed clear and complete bands, and OD260/OD280 was 1.98. Moreover,it is evident that the total RNA extracted with improved GTC would be suitable for research on molecular biology.
