Abstract
To study antioxidant activity of flavonoids from Crocus sativus petals in vitro, the study tested the clearance capacity of flavonoids on hydroxyl free radicals, lipid per oxidation in serum (MDA), NO and superoxide anion by spectrophotometers. And by multivariate linear regression analysis, relevance of total flavonoids in C. sativus petals and antioxidant activity in vitro was studied. Results showed that flavonoids in C. sativus petals had strong antioxidant, free radical scavenging capacity and some restorative power. It could effectively inhibit lipid peroxidation, and antioxidative capacity were related with total flavonoids content.
