A general discussion on research current situation of water conservation forest in China

Water conservation forest is a special kind of protection forests. It can protect water resources, control soil erosion, and purify water quality and so on, so when the situation of the shortage of water resources is becoming more serious, it has been caused the high attention of the world. The research current situation of water conservation forest is reviewed from the four aspects: hydrological function, the relationship between structure and function, forest health evaluation and value evaluation. At the same time，authors sum up the problems that we should pay attention to in the process of research and the development trend in the future. And when using a quantitative model should be revised according to the actual conditions, make the quantitative model more localized, to improve the accuracy of water conservation forests of quantitative, and to provide the scientific basis for the reasonable management of the water conservation forest.
