Abstract
The shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) was semi-intensive cultured in ponds which were located in Dianbai, Guangdong,China, effects of probiotics on growth characteristics of shrimp were evaluated. The doses of probiotics (Baclicus lincheniformis) used in test group was 103 CFU/mL, every 10 days during the whole culture season, in control group but not. Shrimp growth parameters and water quality indices were tested every 7 and 14 days, respectively. The results showed that the fitting curves of shrimp growth could be well coincided with Von Bertallanffy equation. There was an opposite direction trend in growth velocity ratio between body length and weight, that of body length was logarithmic increment but body weight was logarithmic decrement, additionally, the growth velocity ratio of body length was higher than that of body weight before 50 day-old, the body length and weight in test ponds was over than that of control ponds since 56 day-old. Compared with control ponds, the feed coefficient of test ponds decreased 41.41%, output increased 6.07%, the average size of shrimp also was significantly bigger. Overall, the study indicated that probiotics could improve the growth characteristics of L.vannamei and reduce the feed coefficient under semi-intensive culture. Accordingly, the economic benefit of shrimp culture could be improved.
