Breeding of a new luffa F1 hybrid Xialu 4

‘Xialu 4’is a new mid-late maturing luffa cultivar originated from the cross ‘C-34’בYusan17’. It grows strongly with much branching. It is early ripening and tolerance to high-temperature. The head and tail of fruit are well-proportioned and skin color is dark green.The fruit is 50.0 ~60.0 cm long , 4.6 cm width and the average fruits mass is 400.0 ~500.0 g. In addition, it is suitable for storing and shipping and has good productivity. It yields 2 500~3 000 kg/667 m2. It is suitable for summer and autumn planting in southern China.
