Identification and antimicrobial activity of Streptomyces sp. BCG36

    • Actinomycete BCG36 was isolated from rhizosphere soil of Guangxi Beihai mangrove forest. Antibacterial activity, physiological and biochemical profiles, and 16S rDNA sequence were tested. The isolate showed gram positive, amylase, cellulase lipase activity and milk coagulation before they were frozen. The tests for nitrate reduction, hydrogen sulfide, melanin, gelatin liquefaction were negative. The 16S rDNA sequence determination disclosed highly homologous with Streptomyces albidoflavus HD-109. Actinomycete BCG36 exhibited considerable inhibitory effects against E. coli, P. vulgaris, S. hemolyticus, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, S. pneumoniae and C. albicans.
