    Folin-Ciocalteu colorimetric determination of total polyphenols in Pandanus tectorius Sol.

    • We investigated the optimum reaction conditions of Folin -Ciocalteu colorimetry for the determination of Pandanus tectorius Soland using gallic acid as a reference. The results showed that when sodium carbonate solution concentration was 10%, the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent was 1.5 mL, the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent to 10% sodium carbonate solution(V/V)was 3:4, reaction temperature was 40℃, the reaction time was 40 min, the ccontent of total polyphenols had a good linear relationship. The methods for determining the average recovery was 97.19%, relative standard deviation (RSD) was 4.62%. The method used less solvent, was simple operation, high sensitivity, high precision, good stability etc, and was suitable for the determination of total polyphenols in P. tectorius Soland.
