Soil culturable microorganisms and the activities of enzymes in mangrove sediment from Futian, Shenzhen

    • Five vertical and three horizontal mangrove sediment samples were collected from Futian, Shenzhen. The number of bacteria and fungi were analysed with dilution spread plate method. The activity of cellulase, invertase, urease, catalase and protease were detected using spectrophotometry method. The result showed that the number of bacteria were much higher than fungi in mangrove sediment. And it was significant correlation. The vertical differentiation of counts of microorganism were more outstanding than horizontal differentiation. The correlation between different activities of enzymes was not outstanding. Bacterial counts were significantly correlated with activity of invertase while fungus counts were highly significantly correlated with activity of invertase.
