Preliminary report of varietal comparison tests of new mini-watermelon cultivars in Hainan province

In order to identify the stability, adaptability, resistance and other important characteristics of several new mini-watermelon cultivars, the new mini-watermelon cultivar which are suitable for different ecological region, different cultivation way and superior composite characters, especially the new mini-watermelon cultivar which is suitable for cultivating in greenhouse with good quality was screened. Under the support of the national watermelon and melon industrial technology system, mini-watermelon cultivar comparison test was carried out in 2011-2012 in Hainan. 21 mini-watermelon cultivars were inroduced and recruited. The main characters of all testing cultivars were not found to have a serious defect during the testing. According to the comprehensive performance, 9 better mini-watermelon cultivars were sceened. The mini-watermelon of Meiling, Lvmei, DF-N007, Xiaoling, Zhenqi, Huaxianzi, Xiaoyu No.7, 8504, Reyanbaofeng to mini-watermelon cultivars production test and which can be popularized in appropriate area were commend.
