Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of cyantraniliprole on the behavior and lethality of the worker ants of Solenopsis invicta, cyantraniliprole solutions with the concentrations of 1 mg/L and 5 mg/L were used for the experiments. Lethal effect of cyantraniliprole on Solenopsis invicta was investigated by water tube method. The result showed that after 12 hours of treatment, corrected mortality rates of the worker ants were 34.74% and 62.82% at the extract concentration of 1 mg/L and 5 mg/L respectively, which were higher than that of the mortality of control (16.67%). Treated by 0 mg/L,1 mg/L and 5 mg/L for 12 hours, the corrected grabbing rates were 80.00%, 68.05% and 30.43%,respectively the corrected climbing rates were 80.00%,58.45% and 30.38%,the corrected walking rates were 91.67%,70.97% and 0,the walking speed were 2.07 cm/s,1.07 cm/s and 0,respectively the corrected aggregation rates were 92.86%,86.35% and 39.40%,respectively. These results indicate that cyantraniliprole possesses lethal effect against the worker ants of Solenopsis invicta under indoor conditions, which can inhibit behaviorial function of the worker ants of Solenopsis. Cyantraniliprole is a promising chemical ageut against Solenopsis invicta become the new chemical agent to control Solenopsis invicta.
