Effects of different initial diets and feeding modes on growth performance in Misgurnus anguillicaudatus Taiwan larvae

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different kinds,different combination of initial diets and feeding modes on growth performance in Misgurnus anguillicaudatus Taiwan larvae. The fish were fed by five different initial diets( egg yolk,soybean milk,chlorella,artemia and formula feed) respectively for the single feeding experiment. The results showed that the effects of formula feed and egg yolk treatments were better than the others. The weight gain rates in formula feed and egg yolk treatments were 375.27% and 307.53%. The survival rates in formula feed and egg yolk treatments were 81.00% and 82.00%. On the basis of single feeding experiment, the fish were respectively fed by five combination of initial diets containing egg yolk + artemia,egg yolk + artemia + chlorella,egg yolk + formula feed,egg yolk + formula feed + chlorella and egg yolk + artemia + formula feed + chlorella. The results showed that the highest final weight,weight gain rate,specific growth rate and survival rate were obtained in the egg yolk + formula feed + chlorella treatment. It was the best with 597.85% weight gain rate and survival rate 89.00% of M. anguillicaudatus Taiwan larvae. On the basis of selecting the optimal combination of feeds (egg yolk + formula feed + chlorella),the fish were fed by 2,3,4 times a day,respectively,for the different feeding frequency test. The results showed that the group of feeding frequency for 3 times a day was the best with the highest level of final body weight,weight gain rate,specific growth rate and survival rate. On the basis of the above experiments,selecting the optimal combination of feeds (egg yolk + formula feed + chlorella) and the optimal feeding frequency of 3 times a day,the fish were fed adjusting different feeding amounts. The results showed that the group of daily feeding egg yolk 60 mg + compound feed 100 mg + chlorella 105 ind/mL was the best with the highest level of final body weight,weight gain rate,specific growth rate and survival rate.
