Effects of different ratios of organic material on high temperature composting of corn straw

    • In order to study the feasibility of high temperature composting with pure corn straw, the effects of different ratios of organic material on high temperature composting of corn straw were studied by adding Chinese medicine residues and solid amino acids. The results indicated that different proportions of Chinese medicine residues and solid amino acids could promote the composting of corn stalk at high temperature, the composting indexes such as temperature, pH, EC and C/N had significant changes. At the same time, through seed germination index test, it was found that T3 treatment(1000 kg corn stalk + 150 kg Chinese medicine residues +15 kg solid amino acids)was the best. The results of principal component analysis indicated that single index could not completely evaluate the compost maturity, considering the cost of composting materials and composting environmental factors, in the actual corn straw high temperature composting, the formula of T3 treatment was recommended with 15% Chinese medicine residues and 1.5% solid amino acids.
