Abstract
The dike-pond system is a unique agricultural ecosystem in the Pearl River Delta. Grasping the distribution characteristics and dynamic changes of the dike-pond system is important to promote the urban-rural integration and environmental protection in the Pearl River Delta. Using maximum likelihood method and objectoriented image technology,combined with Landsat datas,remote sensing was used to extract the spatial distribution of the dike-pond system in Foshan City from 2000 to 2015. Based on the dynamic model of land use,the temporal and spatial variation of the base pond system was analyzed,to provide a reference for planning and integration of urban development. The results showed that the dike-pond system in Foshan was mainly concentrated in Shunde District. The change of dike-pond system decreased rapidly from 2000 to 2015 with a certain increase. The land area of dike-pond system decreased from 101 984.85 hm2 in 2000 to 71 738.58 hm2 in 2015,a decrease rate of 30%. Some of the major reductions was converted to urban land,accompanied by serious farmland erosion. Therefore,in the process of urbanization development,we should pay attention to the rationality of land resources planning and utilization.
