Investigation on germplasm resources and garden utilization of wild Rhododendron in Guangdong

In order to figure out actual distribution of wild Rhododendron in Guangdong province and strengthen their development in the field of landscape architecture，actual resources of plants in genus Rhododendron L.，their distribution features and physicochemical properties of original soil were studied，by the methods of field investigation and sampling，combined with literatures and specimens. The results show that the species of wild Rhododendron in Guangdong province is 53. And Rhododendron amesiae，R. championae，R. eudoxum，R. kwangtungense，R. latoucheae，R. moulmainense，R. simsii，R. mariae locate below altitude of 500 meters and distributed widely. The value of soil pH is between 4.31 and 5.88，and its average value is 4.85. The value of Ec is between 0.88 and 2.47， and its average value is 1.57. Finally，the development of wild Rhododendron in Guangdong province in the aspects of landscape architecture was discussed，and some suggestions were proposed.
