Study on diumal variation of sugarcane’s pollen vitality and stigma energy

In order to investigate the reason of low ripening rate of sugarcane flowers hybrid，Roc22，K5 and self-sterility，such as YT 92-1287，GT 96-211 were used to study the diumal variation of pollen grains，pollen vitality and stigma energy. The results showed that sugarcane flowered powder between 7：30 and 8：30，then the pollen vitality gradually reduced，completely lost activity after 13：00. The pollen was easily inactivated with rapid dehydration and drying under 0℃ was working for pollen viability in short-term. Stigma could be granted within a day and was affected by high temperature. The best time to pollinate depended largely on pollen activity，8：00-8：30 was the point of sugarcane，meanwhile the stigma could give the most and abundant pollen with high vitality.
