Effects of rain shelter cultivation on fruit development and quality of trans-grafting pear in Guangdong province

Abstract
In this research,‘Tangli’ pear trees were used as stocks to grafting‘ Yueyinzaocuili’ buds,an earlymaturing sand pear cultivar widely planted in the mountains of northern Guangdong,to study the difference,of fruit development and fruit quality of trans-grafting pear under rain shelter and open field conditions. The results showed that the fruit development period of trans-grafting pear cultivated under rain shelter was 10 days longer,but the fruit diameter and fruit mass were higher than those planted in open field. Rain shelter cultivation could significantly improve the appearance of fruits,with brighter and smoother fruit surface,smaller and less fruit dots,and decreasing rusty stain. The contents of total soluble solid and total soluble sugar of the trans-grafting pear fruits planted in rain shelter increased by 13.6% and 11.9%,and the titratable acid content and fruit firmness were 13.3% and 15.1% lower than those planted in open field,respectively,indicating that the fruit internal quality was better under rain shelter cultivation. The study provided an important basis for the application of sheltering from rain on the trans-grafting pear cultivation in Guangdong province.
