Abstract: As a promising biofuel plant species，Jatropha curcas L. is now widely cultivated in tropical areas of the world. The pests，however，has become an important limited factor of its development. In Afritropical regions，at least three species of Aphthona are important insect pests of J. curcas L. causing significant damage. Based on literature review，this paper introduced these pests in terms of occurrence status，damage characteristics，identification， biological and ecological characteristics，and control countermeasures，in order to provide guidance for risk analysis， monitoring，and prevention of these alien pests.
