Abstract: Advances in the breeding, high-yield cultivation technology, mechanization, sugar waste comprehensive utilization of sugarcane industry in Guangxi were summarized in the paper. In order to promot sustainable and healthy development of sugarcane industry in Guangxi, some suggestions were put forward, including collection of sugarcane germplasm resources to enrich the parent materials, combination of conventional breeding technology and molecular technology to improve breeding efficiency of high-sugar, -yield and strong-resistance sugarcane varieties, reinforcement of sugar- and energy-used sugarcane varieties breeding intensity, research and development of small- and medium-sized sugarcane harvester suitable for all kinds of Guangxi geographic types, increase of the adaptability and flexibility of existing sugarcane harvester, improvement of sucrose clarify purification technology, and enhancement of sucrose industry waste utilization intensity, etc.
