Abstract: Development status of Guangdong tilapia industry was introduced from production, distribution, import and export situation etc. Problems were pointed out, including low coverage rate of improved varieties, excellent properties degradation, high cost, Streptococcus disease out breaking, fierce competition of export, high international trade barriers, backward product quality testing technology and quality and unsound safety supervision system, and put forward countermeasures and suggestions to strengthen research on smell of tilapia, open up the domestic market, adjust the product structure and production mode, improve production technology, pay attention to environment, establish industry self regulatory mechanism, promote relevant international certification, strengthen the export competitiveness.
