Abstract: Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai is one of bulk raw materials in Guangxi. Survey on germplasm resources of S.glabra in Guangxi was conducted by field investigation and interview investigation. The content of investigation was about geographic distribution, habitat, biological and community characteristics and associated plant etc. Meanwhile, the quality of raw materials from different areas was evaluated according to Pharmacopoeia of People's Republic of China (2010). The results showed that germplasm resources were rich and distributed throughout the province, especially valleys with rich vegetation and damp forests during 60~1 306 m altitudes. Warm and wet environment, fertile and loose soil were suitable for growth of S.glabra. The raw materials had high quality and good utilization value. The habitat of S.glabra is suffering man-made damage in different degree and the resources are decreasing year after year to extinct, protection measures for the germplasm resources of S. glabra must be taken immediately
