Abstract: Perennial ryegrass(Lolium perenne) is an excellent cool-season turfgrass. Recent research on stress resistance of perennial ryegrass was reviewed in this paper; the negative effects of aridity, high salinity, high and low temperatures, alkalinity and heavy metals on stress resistance of this plant were summarized. Moreover, problems related to the research of perennial ryegrass' stress resistance were concluded, helpful information and indications were provided, which would contribute to the furtherance of research in this area.
