Abstract: An evaluation index system of the water resource carrying capacity was established on the basis of research of water resouce condition in Shantou area Whereas the uncertainty and illegibility of water resource system, and the existing problems in other evaluation methods, Fuzzy Evaluation Method was used to evaluate the water resource carrying capacity in Shantou area and classify the evaluation grades into 3 levels. As a whole, the result indicated a good condition of the water resource carrying capacity from 2000 to 2009 in Shantou area, most of the years were rated level 1, 2004 and 2009 were rated level 2, but worsening trend had appeared gradually in recent years.
